Heterotransplantation of human leukemic cells and cell cultures in the lethally x-irradiated Syrian hamster.

چکیده
Lymphoblasts obtained directly from the peripheral blood buffy coat of a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia partially or completely repopulated the depleted bone marrow spaces of 2 hamsters i.v. infused shortly after whole body irradiation in the supralethal dose range. A more extensive series of experiments with lymphoblasts (CCRF-CEM) isolated directly in continuous suspension cultures from the same patient's blood buffy coat,

A qualitative and quantitative assay for cells lacking postconfluence inhibition of cell division: characterization of this phenotype in carcinogen-treated Syrian hamster embryo cells in culture.
We have developed a qualitative and quantitative assay system for detecting cells lacking postconfluence inhibition of cell division (contact insensitivity, CS-) in golden Syrian hamster embryo cells in culture by measuring the number of cells able to form colonies on a lethally irradiated, confluent monolayer of a contact-sensitive established cell line. A subpopulation in normal low-passage c...

A 2-year-old male hamster was presented because of left facial swelling and salivation. Necropsy wasperformed and affected cheek pouch with tissue samples of regional and internal organs were submitted forhistopathological study. In histopathological examination it was found that the tumor consisted of cords andislands of tumoric epithelial cells which were diffused in the dermis. Vacoulation o...
متن کاملLeukemia: serial transplantation of human leukemic lymphoblasts in the newborn Syrian hamster.
Human leukemia cells are being regularly grown intraperitoneally in the intact newborn Syrian hamster as 3 serially transplantable sublines of lymphosarcoma. These sublines, established from suspension cultures of human leukemic lymphoblasts (CCRF-CEM cells) by the implantation of large numbers of cells, exhibit similar transplantation and growth characteristics, and are presently in their llth...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF HYPERTHERMIA ON THE DIFFERENTIATION OF LEUKEMIC CELL LINES
Treatment of human promonocytic leukemic cell line U937 with mild hyperthermia in the temperature range of 40-43°C resulted in differentiation of these cells into monocyte/macrophage-like cells in a heat dose and time dependent manner. This process was accompanied by marked morphological, functional and proliferational changes. U937 cells which normally grow in supension in the logarithmic...
